2025年4月2日，在特朗普宣布“解放日”时，美国推出了“对等关税”，对所有进口商品征收10%的普遍关税，并对几个国家加征额外关税。中国特别受到冲击，除了3月宣布的20%关税外，还面临着34%的额外关税。

作为回应，中国宣布对所有美国进口商品加征34%的关税。特朗普因此威胁如果中国不撤回措施，将进一步加征更高的关税。
